Can Participate in the Power Wheels Grand Prix with Parent Control

Yes, but only toddlers (typically) can drive in parent-controlled 12V vehicles in the Power Wheels Grand Prix events.

The Hendersonville Parks Department will host its annual Power Wheels Grand Prix on Sunday, November 8, at Volunteer Park’s Inline Hockey Rinks. The Power Wheels race for this age group runs from 3:00 to 3:30 PM and is limited to 30 participants.

Unlike standard Power Wheels races, select events like the Hendersonville Power Wheels Grand Prix allow parent-assisted steering, braking, or remote control in designated divisions. In older age groups and standard races, children need to drive independently without remote controls.

Staff will inspect vehicles at check-in. While Power Wheels vehicles are eligible, stock, unmodified 12V ride-on cars from other brands are also welcome.

Each participant is supposed to pay a $25 entry fee to cover event costs, including prizes and sashes for the top three finishers in each race. If needed, parents can visit the online registration page for more information about the event.

In addition, the following tips deserve your attention.

  • All Power Wheels race participants must wear an approved safety helmet (bicycle or hockey style) and closed-toe shoes or sneakers.
  • Riders must sit inside the vehicle with their legs enclosed in a compartment, rather than riding on top of it.

Parents whose children already own a qualifying 12V ride-on car should check that it meets all Power Wheels Grand Prix requirements before race day.

With registration closing at 4:30 PM on October 30, 2026, families with modified vehicles or those still looking for an eligible ride-on car have a few days left to find a suitable one before the November 8 race.

For families still shopping, a 12V electric car with parent control, such as the Joyracer FB319 ride-on tractor with trailer, may be one good option to explore. The 2.4G parental remote offers three speed settings, allowing you to stay in control during your child’s first race. Joyracer ships from U.S. warehouses in California, Georgia, and New Jersey, with most orders dispatched within one business day and typical delivery taking 2–5 business days.

Before purchasing, you're supposed to recheck with event organizers to confirm that the vehicle meets the race’s eligibility requirements.
